Brevard, N.C.----The 20th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second half Saturday afternoon en route to a 2-1 victory at Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action. Wingate improves to 8-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the SAC. The Tornados fall to 3-9-1 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
Sophomore midfielder
Aksel Juul (Newcastle, England) got the Bulldogs on the board 15 minutes into the first half, netting his first goal of the year off an assist from junior midfielder
Shaun Gadsby (Newcastle, England).
The Bulldogs led 1-0 at halftime, holding a 4-2 advantage in shots.
Wingate wasted no time getting on the board in the second half, taking a 2-0 lead 90 seconds in on a goal from senior forward
Gui Peron (Sao Paulo, Brazil). The reigning national Player of the Week netted his fifth goal of the year off an assist from Juul.
Brevard got on the board with four minutes remaining in regulation when
Efren Escobar scored off a corner to make the final margin 2-1.
The two teams both ended the night with seven shots, with Wingate holding a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper

Wingate is back in action Wednesday, hosting Lander at 7 p.m.
