#3 Limestone takes 15-6 victory over visiting Wingate Wednesday

Gaffney, S.C.----The number three Limestone College men's lacrosse team earned a 15-6 NCAA Division II victory over Wingate University Wednesday afternoon at the LC Upper Practice Field. The Saints bolted to an 11-1 lead and never looked back, improving to 8-1 overall. The Bulldogs are 5-3 overall.
 
Wingate freshman attack Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario) and junior midfield Zak Goings (Haymarket, Va.) scored two goals each for the visiting Bulldogs. Ten different Saints scored at least one goal. Sophomore attack Vinny Ricci (Port Moody, B.C.) led Limestone with three goals. Three Saints had two goals each.
 
Wingate freshman midfield Steen Swedstedt (Mercer Island, Wash.) scored the game's first goal on an EMO power play. He was assisted by junior attack Cory Schumacher (Gainesville, Va.) with 8:17 remaining in the first quarter. Limestone scored two goals in the next 70 seconds to take the lead for good.
 
Limestone senior Todd Nakasuji (Ajax, Ontario) scored the Saints first goal at the 7:14 mark. Seven seconds later, freshman Kevin Reisman (West Babylon, N.Y.) tallied the match winner on an unassisted goal.
 
Limestone outshot Wingate 45-29. The Saints held a 46-29 advantage on ground balls. Both teams converted one EMO goal in three tries each. Wingate freshman goalie Michael Connor (Stockport, England) took the loss. In 21-plus minutes, he allowed 11 goals and recorded five saves. LC sophomore goalie Patrick Sheridan (Fairport, N.Y.) got the win. In 41-plus minutes, he posted eight saves while allowing three goals.
