#42 Bulldogs down #38 Limestone 6-3 Wednesday

Wingate, N.C.----The 42nd-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs took two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches Wednesday afternoon en route to a 6-3 victory over No. 38 Limestone College Wednesday afternoon in NCAA Division II tennis action. The Bulldogs are 9-6 overall while Limestone falls to 5-3 on the year.

The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead with a pair of doubles victories. Junior Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) teamed with sophomore Sebastian Hall (Lörrach, Germany) for an 8-4 win at number one doubles. Senior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) won 8-6 at number two doubles to put the Bulldogs on top 2-1 heading to singles play.

Kudrick cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at number four singles to make it 3-1. Hall made it 4-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at number two singles, while freshman Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) won the clincher at number three singles, prevailing 7-6, 6-0. Towlson rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory at number one singles to make the final margin 6-3.

Wingate returns to action Saturday, traveling to Carson-Newman for a 12 p.m. start.
