#42 Wingate blanks Carson-Newman as Cabana notches career win number 100

Jefferson City, Tenn.----The Wingate University Bulldogs cruised to a 9-0 victory at Carson-Newman University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. The Bulldogs improve to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the SAC. Head coach Michael Cabana notched his 100th career men's tennis victory at Wingate with the win. He won his 100th women's tennis match earlier this season. Carson-Newman falls to 3-13 overall and 1-4 in the SAC.

The Bulldogs swept their way through doubles action Saturday afternoon. Junior Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) teamed with sophomore Sebastian Hall (Lörrach, Germany) for an 8-3 win at number one doubles. Senior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) won 8-5 at number two doubles, while freshmen Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) and Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) prevailed 8-2 at number three doubles.

Towlson won 6-1, 6-2 at number one singles, while Hall won 6-1, 6-1 at number two singles. Pezzoli won 6-3, 6-4 at number three singles action, while Kudrick cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles. Forbes won 6-2, 7-6 at number five singles for the Bulldogs, while junior Josh Eardley (Newcastle, England) capped the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win at number six singles.

Wingate returns to action next Saturday, traveling to Brevard for a 2 p.m. match. The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to travel to Tusculum Sunday, but that match has been postponed due to weather.
