Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University men's lacrosse team bolted to a 6-0 lead and never looked back, collecting a 15-3 South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse victory over Tusculum College at the Irwin Belk Track Complex turf field Saturday afternoon. Bulldog sophomore attack

Wingate concludes the 2014 season 7-6 overall and 2-5 in the SAC. The Bulldogs more than triple their 2013 victory total while posting their first winning record since an 11-3 overall ledger in 2008. In their inaugural men's lacrosse season, the TC Pioneers are 4-8 overall and 0-7 in the SAC.

Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario) had two goals and four assists, while freshman attack
Tanner Kotch (Butler, Pa.) posted two goals and three assists. Wingate junior midfield
Cory Schumacher (Gainesville, Va.) had two goals and one assist. Classmate
Chase Watts (Winston-Salem, N.C.) added two goals from his midfield position.

Ben Boyd (Bel Air, Md.) had three goals. Pioneer junior attack

Steven Raimondi (Amherst, N.Y.) had one assist each. Wingate outshot Tusculum 40-22 with a 23-8 advantage in the first half.

Watts sandwiched two first-quarter goals around scores by Murphy and Schumacher, staking the Bulldogs to a 4-0 lead after the first 15 minutes. In the second stanza, three different Bulldogs scored one goal each while TC's Boyd tallied twice to make the score 7-2 at intermission.

Vogrig heated up in the second half, posting one goal in the third quarter and three in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs pull away. Murphy had three assists in the fourth frame, as the Bulldogs pitched a 5-0 shutout to finish the contest.

Wingate senior midfield
Bryce Sneed (Apex, N.C.) concluded a record-setting career with another brilliant performance. Sneed won 17-of-21 face-offs and posted a game-high 14 ground balls. In addition, Sneed had one goal and two assists.

Michael Connor (Stockport, England) collected the victory. In 53 minutes, he allowed three goals and recorded 11 saves. Wingate freshman
Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) finished the game. He had one save in seven minutes. Tusculum junior goalie
John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) played 60 minutes. He gave up 15 goals and posted 19 saves.
