#34 Bulldogs move to 10-0 in the SAC with 5-4 win at Tusculum

Greeneville, Tenn.----The 34th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs remained undefeated in SAC play Tuesday afternoon, edging Tusculum College 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. Wingate moves to 15-6 overall and 10-0 in the SAC, while the Pioneers fall to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Bulldogs clinch at least a share of the regular season SAC title. Wingate can win the outright title against Lenoir-Rhyne Friday.

The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches Tuesday afternoon. Senior Ryan Forbes (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) teamed for an 8-6 win at number two doubles, while an 8-4 win from freshmen Filippo Pezzoli and Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) made it 2-1 heading to singles play.

Pezzoli won 6-1, 7-5 at number three singles for Wingate, which tied the match at three with Tusculum winning at number one and two singles. The freshman is now 10-0 against SAC opposition this season. Kudrick prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at number four singles, notching his 19th consecutive singles victory. Junior Josh Eardley (Newcastle, England) won the clincher at number six singles, winning 6-3, 6-2 to give the 'Dogs the 5-4 victory.

Wingate will look to clinch an outright league title Friday, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne at 2 p.m.
