Davidson, N.C.----The Davidson College men's tennis team swept the three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over Wingate University Saturday at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center on the Davidson campus. The host Wildcats are 1-2 overall, while the NCAA Division II number 30 Bulldogs are 0-2 after two battles against NCAA Division I foes (in as many days).

Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) won his second singles match of the young season, defeating Davidson sophomore
Jordan Hart (McKinney, Texas) 6-4, 7-5 at the number four singles flight. Bulldog freshman
Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) also claimed a straight sets singles victory, topping Wildcat junior
Alex Howard (Brentwood, Tenn.) 6-4, 7-6 (1) in the number five singles contest.

Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) went three sets in the number two singles match, falling to Davidson freshman
Artem Khrapko (Corning, N.Y.) 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. The Wildcats won the number one, three and six singles matches in straight sets. Davidson started the day by claiming the doubles point, dropping only three games each in the three doubles matches.
Wingate visits Southeast Region foe Erskine Thursday for a 2 p.m. contest. The Bulldogs play their home opener Sunday, Feb. 15, hosting local rival Johnson C. Smith at 1 p.m. Davidson plays Presbyterian Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats visit Sacred Heart (Conn.) Friday.
