Newberry, S.C.----The Wingate University men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 doubles deficit to take a hard-fought 6-3 South Atlantic Conference victory over Newberry College Tuesday afternoon. Wingate remains undefeated in 2015 SAC play, improving to 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the league. Newberry is 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the SAC.

Wingate sophomore
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) and redshirt freshman
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) won two matches each for the victorious Bulldogs. Kudrick and Zuri paired to take an 8-5 decision at the number two doubles flight.

In singles, Kudrick defeated Newberry senior
Carlos Nicolopulos (Valencia, Venezuela) 6-0, 6-3 in the number four singles match. Zari outlasted Newberry freshman
Fernando Tous (Madrid, Spain) 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 at the number two singles flight. The Bulldogs did not lose a set in the number three, four, five and six singles matches.

"The men found a way to win today," Wingate head coach
Michael Cabana says. "We were gritty and determined, having not played our best and letting many opportunities slip through our hands. We will have to get better in preparation for Tusculum (Friday)."

Wingate will host Tusculum Friday at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs will entertain Carson-Newman Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Wingate will celebrate Senior Day Saturday, honoring
Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) and
Josh Eardley (Newcastle, Staffordshire, England) in pre-match festivities.          Â
