WTEN Box ScoreWingate, N.C.----The Wingate University men's and women's tennis teams remained unbeaten in SAC play Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting Carson-Newman University by identical 8-1 scores. The Wingate men win their 19th straight league match, moving to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in the SAC. The women pick up their 33rd consecutive conference victory, improving to 8-4 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
Senior
Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) teamed with junior
Sebastian Hall (Warwick, Bermuda) for an 8-4 win at number one doubles. Senior
Josh Eardley (Newcastle, England) and sophomore
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) won 8-6 at number three doubles to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.
Towlson won 7-6, 6-0 at number one singles to pick up his second win on Senior Day. Freshman
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) won 6-3, 6-3 at number two singles, while Hall won 6-4, 6-2 at number three singles. Sophomore
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at number four singles, while Pezzoli added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at five singles.

Becca Thomas (Alpharetta, Ga.) joined sophomore
Andrea Ternera (Bogota, Colombia) for an 8-0 win at number one doubles. Freshmen
Maria Garcia (San Carlos, Venezuela) and
Oroma Womeodu (Memphis, Tenn.) added an 8-2 win at number two doubles, while an 8-0 win at number three doubles from senior
Tiffany Williams (Cary, N.C.) and sophomore
Sierra Parsons (Toronto, Ontario) made it 3-0 heading to singles play.
Ternera won 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles, while Womeodu and sophomore
Layla Tanik (Raleigh, N.C.) won by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores at three and four singles. Thomas picked up an 8-0 victory at number five singles, while Garcia's 8-0 win at number six singles capped the day.
Both Wingate teams are back in action Wednesday, traveling to Queens for a 2 p.m. start.
