Salisbury, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs swept through singles action Wednesday afternoon en route to an 8-1 victory at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. Wingate moves to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Indians fall to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Freshman
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) and sophomore
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) won 8-5 at number two doubles, while freshman
Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) teamed with sophomore
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) for an 8-1 win at number three doubles.
Zari prevailed 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 at number one singles for the Bulldogs, while senior
Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at number two singles. Junior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) picked up a 6-2,7-5 win at number three singles, while Kudrick won 6-1, 6-3 at number four singles. Sophomore
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) notched a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number five singles, while a 6-3, 6-2 win from DuToit at six singles wrapped up the day.
The Bulldogs are back in action Sunday, traveling to LMU for an 11 a.m. start.
