Bulldogs sweep Railsplitters to move to 3-0 in SAC play

The Wingate University Bulldogs swept the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters 9-0 in NCAA Division II men's tennis action Sunday afternoon. Wingate improves to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the SAC. LMU falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Senior Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) and junior Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) teamed for an 8-1 win at number one doubles, while freshman Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) and sophomore Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) prevailed 8-2 at number two doubles. An 8-3 win at number three doubles from sophomore Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) and senior Josh Eardley (Newcastle, England) put the 'Dogs on top 3-0 heading to singles play.

Towlson won 6-0, 6-2 at number one singles, while Zari won 6-3, 6-2 at number two singles. Hall prevailed 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles, while Kudrick won 6-1, 6-4 in number four singles play. Pezzoli was leading 5-0 in the opening set at five singles when his opponent retired, while freshman Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) won 8-3 at number six singles.

The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, hosting Brevard at 2 p.m.
