Wingate rallies for 6-3 victory over Bluefield State

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs went 5-1 singles play Saturday afternoon, erasing a 2-1 deficit to defeat visiting Bluefield State 6-3 in NCAA Division II men's tennis action. Wingate improves to 13-5 overall, while Bluefield State falls to 13-6 on the year.

Wingate's number doubles team of senior Neal Towlson (Warwick, Bermuda) and junior Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) picked up an 8-5 win, but Bluefield State notched wins at number two and three doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

Hall won 6-1, 6-4 at number two singles, while freshman Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) won 7-5, 6-0 at number three singles. Sophomore Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) prevailed 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at number four singles, while sophomore Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number five singles. Freshman Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) capped the day with a 7-5, 7-5 win at number six singles.

Wingate is back in action Tuesday, taking on Georgia College at 12 p.m. The match will take place at Augusta, Ga.
