Charlotte, N.C.----The Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls broke a 64-64 tie with a bucket in the final minute, defeating visiting Wingate University 66-64 in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. The Golden Bulls improve to 7-4 overall, while Wingate falls to 7-4 on the season.
Diondre Pratt had 17 points and four assists to lead the Johnson C. Smith attack. 
Alandre Davis added 12 points and six rebounds, while 
Robert Davis and 
Joshua Linson contributed nine and eight points, respectively.
Junior forward 
Josh Dominguez (Matthews, N.C.) led the Bulldogs with 12 points, while senior guard 
Xavier Griffin (Marshville, N.C.) added 11 points and six assists. Junior forward 
Isiah Cureton (Waxhaw, N.C.) contributed 10 points, while freshman guard 
Mike Baez (Huntersville, N.C.) had eight points for the Bulldogs. Junior 
Keith Griffin (Concord, N.C.) added seven points and 11 rebounds.
A Dominguez bucket gave Wingate a 15-12 lead with 8:53 remaining in the first half. The Golden Bulls scored the next seven points, taking a 19-15 lead on a Pratt layup. A Linson triple pushed the advantage to eight with 2:14 to go in the half. A Dominguez bucket helped Wingate trim JC Smith's halftime lead to 34-27.
A Davis jumper gave the Golden Bulls a 38-28 lead a minute into the second half. Wingate responded with a 12-2 run, tying it at 40 at the 14-minute mark. Triples from Cureton and 
Anthanee Doyle (Holly Springs, N.C.) started the flurry, while a tip-in from 
Lee McCall (Indian Land, S.C.) tied it.
A three from Pratt put Johnson Smith back on top by five at the 13:43 mark. A Davis layup made it 55-48, but a Baez layup and 
Kerigan Farley (Hickory, N.C.) three got the 'Dogs within two. A layup and free throw from Dominguez gave Wingate a one-point lead with 6:31 to go. JC Smith scored the next seven points, taking a 62-56 lead on a Pratt bucket with 4:28 remaining.
The Bulldogs used an 8-2 run to tie the game at 64 at the 2:17 mark. Cureton started the flurry with a three-point play and a jumper, while a Baez triple tied it. Teams traded empty possessions until 
Stedmon Lemon knocked down a jumper with 36 seconds remaining to put the Golden Bulls on top by two.
Johnson C. Smith shot 41.5 percent from the field, hitting five-of-14 shots from three-point range (35.7 percent). Wingate shot 41.1 percent from the field, hitting seven-of-23 shots from beyond the arc (30.4 percent). The Bulldogs held a 43-27 rebounding advantage, holding an 11-9 lead in second-chance points. Johnson C. Smith converted 16 Wingate turnovers into 22 points.
The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, hosting Coker at 8 p.m.
