Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs will play three home games in six days, starting Wednesday night when they host Coker College at 8 p.m. in Cuddy Arena. Wingate enters Wednesday night at 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the SAC, looking to snap its first two-game losing streak of the season. Coker is 5-5 overall and 1-5 in the conference. The game will air on

Wingate is coming off a pair of tough losses over the past week. The 'Dogs led by 15 against Augusta on Thursday, but the Jaguars rallied back for a 70-61 victory. Six players had at least seven points, led by
Isiah Cureton (Waxhaw, N.C.) with 11 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. The Bulldogs dropped a two-point decision at Johnson C. Smith Saturday, with the Golden Bulls breaking a tie in the final 40 seconds in Charlotte.
Josh Dominguez (Matthews, N.C.) had 12 points, while
Xavier Griffin (Marshville, N.C.) contributed 11 points and six assists.
The Bulldogs won six of their first seven games this season, capped by an 89-86 victory over Newberry in early December. Through the first seven contests, Wingate averaged 83.5 points per contest. The 'Dogs have dropped three of their last four games, averaging 68 points per game and just 60.7 points per contest in the three losses during the span. Wingate has shot over 45 percent from the field seven times this season, going 6-1 in those games.
The Bulldogs lead the SAC with 4.3 blocked shots per game, ranking second in the league and 11th nationally in defensive rebounds per game (30.5). Wingate is third in the conference in field goal percentage defense and rebounding margin, while also ranking third in total rebounding.
Wingate has five players scoring over eight points per game on the year, with four Bulldogs scoring in double figures. Cureton leads the team and ranks 15th in the conference with 15.3 points per game. He leads the team in steals per game, ranking second in assists per games, blocks per game and steals per game and third with 5.2 rebounds per contest. He shoots 38.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.7 percent at the free throw line. Freshman
Mike Baez (Huntersville, N.C.) averages 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, ranking 11th in the league in rebounding and second on the team with 19 triples.
Griffin averages 11.5 points per game, leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference 3.5 assists per game. Sophomore
Anthanee Doyle (Holly Springs, N.C.) contributes 11.1 points per contest, knocking down a team-best 21 threes, shooting 40.4 percent from three-point range. He also leads the team with 14 steals.
Wingate and Coker met twice last season, with each team winning at home. The Cobras won 67-62 in Hartsville, while the Bulldogs prevailed 68-52 in Cuddy Arena, with
Keith Griffin (Concord, N.C.) and
Zeriq Lolar (Orlando, Fla.) contributing 12 points apiece.
Coker comes in having lost five of its last six games. The Cobras picked up their first league win Dec. 19, defeating Tusculum 81-66. That was Coker's last game, getting 30 points from
Trey Marshall.
Donte Samuels leads the Cobras with 18.7 points per game, shooting 51.2 percent from the field while adding 4.7 rebounds per contest. Marshall contributes 11.9 points per game, handing out a team-best 2.5 assists per game.
After Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs will welcome Carson-Newman to Cuddy Arena Saturday at 4 p.m. Wingate wraps up the three-game home stand Monday, Jan. 11, hosting Tusculum at 7 p.m.
