Moore’s game-winner gives Bulldogs double-overtime victory at Brevard

Brevard, N.C.----Wingate University sophomore forward Kimmi Moore (Hubert, N.C.) scored the game's lone goal in the final minute of the second overtime Saturday evening, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 double-overtime win at Brevard College in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action. Wingate wins its fourth straight, improving to 7-3-1 overall and 5-2 in the SAC. The Tornados fall to 5-8-1 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

The Bulldogs held a slight 9-7 edge in shots in the opening half, with a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Taylor Leyble (Jacksonville, N.C.) put a pair of shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes.

Wingate out-shot the Tornados 12-6 in the second half, with a dominant 6-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Bulldogs fired off five shots in the final 12 minutes of regulation but could not find the back of the net.

Wingate took all six shots in the first overtime, but did not put a shot on frame.

The 'Dogs held a 6-1 advantage in shots in the second overtime. Moore finished the game with 57 seconds remaining in the contest. After a Colleen Zickert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) corner kick, a deflection in the box went towards Moore, who found the back of the net for the sixth time this year to give Wingate the victory.

The Bulldogs out-shot Brevard 33-14 on the night, with a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. Moore took a match-high seven shots, with four shots on goal. Freshman Taylor Krakower (Wayne, N.J.) added five shots for the Bulldogs.

Junior goalkeeper Alexis Jones (Midway Park, N.C.) had five saves to preserve the shutout. Laurel Neuzil collected eight saves for the Tornados.

Wingate is back in action Wednesday, stepping out of conference play and traveling to North Georgia to face the No. 16 Nighthawks at 4 p.m.
