Box ScoreDavidson, N.C.----The Davidson College Wildcats picked up a 7-0 victory over visiting Wingate University in NCAA men's tennis action Saturday afternoon. Davidson improves to 2-3 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-2 on the season.
Davidson picked up the doubles point by winning at two and three doubles. Wingate's number one doubles team of senior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) and junior
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) held a 3-2 lead when doubles play ended.
The Wildcats won all six singles matches on Saturday. At six singles, junior
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) won the first set 6-3, but lost the second set 6-3. The match went to a tiebreaker, which Davidson won 10-8. Hall and Kudrick fell at one and two singles by identical 6-3, 6-2 scores. Junior
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match at three singles, while sophomore
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) lost 6-2, 6-2 at four singles. Sophomore
Josh Dutoit (Charlotte, N.C.) dropped a tight 6-4, 6-4 match at number five singles.
Wingate is back in action Sunday, traveling to Mount Olive for a 1 p.m. start.Â
