Hartsville, S.C.----Wingate University freshman guard/forward
Danasia Witherspoon (Hickory, N.C.) posted a team-high 19 points, lifting the Bulldogs to a 74-63 South Atlantic Conference victory over Coker College Wednesday night in the DeLoach Center. The victory is the fifth consecutive triumph for the visiting Bulldogs (15-8 overall, 12-7 SAC).

Ann Hancock says. "It was a rough-and-tough battle. I'm proud of the way we fought in the face of adversity." Hancock remains undefeated against Coker (6-0 overall) as Wingate's head coach.

Morgan McGee (Durham, N.C.) had 12 points and eight rebounds, while redshirt junior guard
Amber Neely (Charlotte, N.C.) contributed 11 markers. "Amber did a good job handling their pressure all night," Hancock says. "Morgan took a beating inside, but kept fighting through the contact."
Neely also represented well for the Bulldog defense, coming away with five steals throughout the evening. Wingate converted 28-of-37 free throws Wednesday night (75.7 percent), establishing a season-high for made free throws in a game. "Free throw shooting was critical," Hancock says.
For Coker (9-16 overall, 8-11 SAC), senior guard
Jazz Green (Darlington, S.C.) led all scorers with 21 points. She hit six-of-17 field goals. Cobra freshman guard
Elizabeth Kincaid (Poquoson, Va.) chipped in 11 points. Coker (30) and Wingate (21) combined for 51 turnovers Wednesday night.
The rebounding game made for an intense contest between the two teams, as Wingate narrowly outrebounded their hosts 35-34. McGee's eight boards led the 'Dogs. Freshman guard Courtney Robinson (Taylors, S.C.) pulled down five caroms. Green led the Cobras with her eight rebounds, adding six steals to her statistical ledger for the night. Danielle Luczak (Kodak, Tenn.). The 6-0 Luczak also put up eight points for Coker.
Wingate will continue its journey on the road, as they head to Jefferson City, Tenn. to tip-off against Carson-Newman (16-9 overall, 10-9 SAC) Saturday at 2 p.m. Coker College will also travel for their next contest as the Cobras visit Mars Hill University Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
