Box ScoreJefferson City, Tenn.----The 48th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs bounced back from a tough 5-4 setback Friday afternoon, rolling to an 8-1 victory at Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action Saturday. Wingate improves to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the SAC, while the Eagles fall to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Bulldogs swept through doubles play Saturday morning. Senior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) and junior
Connor Kudrick (Spring, Texas) got things started with an 8-4 win at one doubles. Sophomore
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) and freshman
Duncan Addison (Halifax, Canada) won 8-5 at number two doubles, while juniors
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) and
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) won by the same score at number three doubles.
Hall won 7-5, 6-3 at number one singles for the Bulldogs, while Pezzoli prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at three singles. Zari won 6-4, 6-2 at number four singles, while sophomore
Josh Dutoit (Charlotte, N.C.) won 8-4 at five singles. Schofer picked up his second win of the day, prevailing 8-3 at number six singles.
Wingate is back in action Thursday, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne at 2 p.m.
