Box ScoreWingate, N.C.----The 48th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs picked up their second victory over an NCAA Division I opponent Monday morning, defeating Radford University 6-3 in men's tennis action. Wingate improves to 8-3 overall, while the Highlanders fall to 0-5 on the season.
The Bulldogs won two out of three doubles matches Monday, with sophomore
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) and freshman
Duncan Addison (Halifax, Canada) winning 8-3 at number two doubles. Juniors
Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) and
Filippo Pezzoli (Milan, Italy) prevailed 8-5 at number three doubles to give Wingate a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.
Senior
Sebastian Hall (Lorrach, Germany) won 6-4, 6-4 at number one singles. Pezzoli notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory at three singles, while Zari rallied for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at four singles. Sophomore
Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) added a 6-4, 6-3 victory at number five singles for the Bulldogs.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, traveling to Bluefield State for a 1 p.m. match.
