Wingate, N.C.----In conjunction with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the Wingate University men's and women's tennis teams are hosting Campus Kids' Day on Sunday, April 17, when the Bulldogs host the Limestone College Saints for a 1 p.m. NCAA Division II men's tennis match (Wingate Campus Kids' Day flyer).

Campus Kids' Days are designed to expose more junior players (and their parents and coaches) to college tennis varsity team matches. "Campus Kids' Day gives young people an opportunity to see a college tennis match and learn more about the game at the same time," Wingate head men's and women's tennis coach Michael Cabana says.

The Wingate Campus Kids' Day will begin at 1 p.m. with the Bulldog men's tennis team facing the Limestone Saints. A free lunch for the participants will be served at 2 p.m. The free clinic, complete with games and stations geared to children and teenagers, follows the conclusion of the match.

"Our teams desire to be involved in the community and bring tennis into a young kid's life," Cabana says. "Tennis is a lifetime sport…a game which has so much to offer a young person. Our players enjoy the chance to interact with these young kids. It is special to see the connections the kids make with our players as well."

Participants can register with Wingate University head coach Michael Cabana via E-mail at mcabana@wingate.edu or phone at 704-233-8384. Interested parties can learn more about Wingate University Tennis camps at this link.
