Wingate, N.C.----The Queens University Royals handed 42nd-ranked Wingate University its first league loss of the season Wednesday afternoon, prevailing 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. The Royals improve to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, making them the lone team unbeaten in conference play this season. Wingate falls to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in league play.

Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) and junior
Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) picked up an 8-5 victory.
Freshman
Daniel Belsito (Charlotte, N.C.) won 6-0, 6-3 at number two singles to tie the match at two. Queens answered with victories at number one and six singles to take a 4-2 advantage. The Bulldogs got a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 win at three singles from freshman
Theo Dessacs (Toulouse, France), while a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory at four singles from junior
Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) tied the match 4-4. Queens won the clincher at five singles, prevailing in three sets to secure the victory.
Wingate is back in action Friday, traveling to Radford for a 3:30 p.m. start.
