#14 Georgia College uses strong doubles play in 5-4 victory at #42 Wingate

Wingate, N.C.----The 14th-ranked Georgia College Bobcats swept through doubles play Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 42 Wingate University 5-4 in NCAA Division II men's tennis action. The Bobcats improve to 9-8 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 16-3 on the season.

Georgia College won all three doubles matches, with senior Amir Zari (Jerusalem, Israel) and Tyler Schofer (Graham, N.C.) dropping a tight 9-8 decision at two doubles.

Freshman Daniel Belsito (Charlotte, N.C.) rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number two singles. Junior Josh DuToit (Charlotte, N.C.) rallied back after dropping the opening set 6-4 at four doubles, winning the second set 6-1, then claiming the match when his opponent retired in the third set. Zari won 6-2, 6-2 at five singles, while junior Nicholas Oliveira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at six singles.

Next up for the Bulldogs is the 2017 SAC Tournament, which gets underway April 20 in Rock Hill, S.C.
