Charlotte, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs cruised to their third sweep of the season Friday evening, rolling to a 3-0 victory over Converse College in NCAA Division II volleyball action on day one of the Queens Fall Classic. Wingate won by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-10 to improve to 4-0 overall, while the Valkyries fall to 1-5 on the season.

Anna Holmquist had nine kills to lead the Wingate offense, hitting .312 while adding three digs and two blocks. Junior middle blocker
Lynnlee Mather hit .600 with seven kills and three blocks, while freshman
Reese Blackley also had seven kills, hitting .438 while adding four digs. Phoebe Havenaar chipped in with five kills in two sets, while freshman setter
Shannon Kasprak handed out 20 assists to go along with seven digs. Senior libero
Kori Adams contributed 12 digs, six aces, a kill and an assist for the Bulldogs.
A kill and a block from Holmquist sparked a 5-0 run that gave Wingate a 10-3 lead in the opening set. The Bulldogs added a 6-0 run, getting a kill and a block from Mather to go on top 16-4. Kills from Mather and
Taylor Williams made it 21-9, while back-to-back Holmquist kills put the 'Dogs on top 24-11. A block from Holmquist and
Rachel Alles ended the opening frame.
Back-to-back Havenaar kills highlighted a 4-0 run that gave Wingate an 8-4 advantage in set two. A Morgan Pearson kill got Converse within one at 10-9, but back-to-back Blackley kills made it 14-11. Converse got back within a point at 14-13, but an ace from Adams along with kills from Holmquist and Williams pushed the lead back to four at 19-14. Wingate scored the last five points of the set, with three straight Blackley kills making it 24-17 and a Converse error ending the frame.
Mather had two kills and a block to go along with two Blackley kills to give the Bulldogs an early 9-2 lead in set three. Kills from Holmquist and
Hanna Knaley stretched the lead to nine at 15-6, while a 5-0 run made it 23-9. Holmquist started the flurry with a kill, while Adams added back-to-back aces. Mather's kill made it 24-10, while a Converse error ended the match.
Wingate hit .312 on the day, with 36 kills and 11 errors in 80 attacks. Converse had 21 kills and 24 errors in 95 attacks, hitting -.032. Adams had six of Wingate's eight aces, while Mather had a match-high three blocks.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday morning, wrapping up the Queens Fall Classic at 10 a.m. against Augusta. The Jaguars will enter Saturday 5-0 record.
