Wingate, N.C.----The Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears had four players score in double figures Wednesday night, building a nine-point lead then holding off Wingate University 67-64 in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. LR improves to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the SAC, while the 'Dogs see their five-game winning streak snapped, falling to 9-6 overall and 5-2 in league play.

KEY STATS

- LR shot 44 percent from the field, hitting 11-of-25 shots from three-point range (44 percent)
- Wingate shot 39 percent from the field, hitting six-of-24 from beyond the arc (25 percent)

- Wingate countered with a 12-3 run, getting 10 points from Johnson to tie it at 22
- A Djibril Diallo triple at the 1:48 mark put the Bears back on top by nine
- WU scored the final six points of the frame, with a Logan jumper at the buzzer making it 32-29 at halftime

SECOND HALF

- Threes from Haskins and Dawkins gave the 'Dogs a 37-36 lead three minutes in to the second half
- Back-to-back tip-ins from Taylor put Wingate on top by three with 14 minutes to go
- A three from Mason Hawks triple put the Bears on top by two with 11:39 remaining
- Three free throws from Dawkins put WU back on top, but an RJ Gunn three and Thomas jumper gave LR a five-point lead
- Johnson's three got Wingate within four, but Hawks answered with a triple to make it 65-58 at the 5:35 mark
- Wingate held the Bears to two points the rest of the way, forcing seven turnovers
- A Dawkins layup and two Johnson free throws got Wingate within three with 1:22 left
- A Haskins layup made it a two-point game with 13 seconds remaining
- Wingate had a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but a Dawkins triple was off the mark
