#23 Bulldogs stifle Bears to notch 13th sweep of the season

Wingate, N.C.----The 23rd-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs held Lenoir-Rhyne University to a season-low in kills and hitting percentage Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 3-0 victory in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-19 to move to 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the SAC. The Bears fall to 10-4 overall and 6-4 in league play.

- The 'Dogs have won an NCAA-best 48 consecutive home matches

- Rachel Alles had four kills, 18 assists, 12 digs and three blocks

FIRST SET

- A kill and a block from Maggie Young gave WU a 10-6 lead
- Kills from Lambillotte, Warren and Young made it 14-8
- A Taylor Prall kill got LR within three, but a block from Schaff and Alles made it 18-12
- Kills from Lambillotte and Alles made it 24-20; Abernathy's kill ended the frame

SECOND SET

- Three Abernathy kills, along with a block and a kill from Schaff gave WU a 6-1 lead
- A Schaff kill and two Kasprak aces made it 11-3
- Kills from Warren and Schaff stretched the lead to 10 at 15-5
- A Schaff block and Warren kill made it 21-11, while kills from Warren and Alles made it 24-14
- Lynnlee Mather and Reese Blackley ended the set with a block

THIRD SET

- Two Schaff kills and a Warren ace gave the 'Dogs a 7-4 advantage
- Kills from Lambillotte, Abernathy and Schaff made it 13-9
- A Selena Scudder ace got LR within two at 15-13
- Kills from Lambillotte and Abernathy pushed the lead back to five at 20-15
- A Warren kill and Ortiz ace, along with an Abernathy kill made it 23-17
- Schaff's kill made it 24-19; Alles ended the match with a kill

WRAPUP

- Wingate hit .209 with 40 kills and 16 errors
- LR had 22 kills and 20 errors, hitting .019
- The Bears had 10 blocks; the "Dogs registered eight blocks
- The 'Dogs had 59 digs while LR had 51 digs
- The Bulldogs had seven of the 12 aces on the day
