Bulldogs push regular season winning streak to 20 with sweep at UVA-Wise

Wise, Va.----The 23rd-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs notched their 14th sweep of the season Friday night, rolling to a 3-0 victory at UVA-Wise in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action. Wingate won by scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 25-20 to move to 17-0 on the year and 10-0 in the SAC. The Cavaliers fall to 1-13 overall and 0-10 in league play.

- The Bulldogs move to 394-35 overall since the start of the 2007 season

FIRST SET

- A pair of Schaff kills gave Wingate a 10-6 lead in the opening frame
- Kelsey Green's kill got UVA-Wise within two at 13-11
- The 'Dogs scored the next seven points to take a 20-11 advantage
- Anne Abernathy had three kills and a block in the flurry
- A block and a kill from Warren made it 24-13; an Alles kill ended the set

SECOND SET

- A Warren kill and Maggie Mullen ace put WU on top 9-6 in set two
- Back-to-back Mather kills pushed the advantage to five at 12-7
- WU used a 5-0 run to go up 19-10, getting a kill and ace from Warren along with an Alles kill and block
- An Alles kill and Kasprak block made it 24-15; a UVA-Wise error ended the set

THIRD SET

- Two kills and a block from Mather, along with a Warren ace gave WU a 7-3 lead
- Kills from Schaff and Maggie Young made it 11-6
- Kills from Warren and Ortiz, along with an Alles block put the 'Dogs on top 15-8
- Kills from Alles and Emma Ahrens pushed the advantage to nine at 20-11
- A Mather block made it 24-18; Kasprak ended it with a kill
