Josefine Moeller (Leberget, Sweden) and freshman
Louise Hallden (Stocksund, Sweden) won events and the Bulldogs posted seven NCAA Division II "B" cuts on the second night of the 2018 Royal Open at the Levine Center on the Queens University of Charlotte campus Saturday. The nationally-ranked Bulldog swimming teams participated in the Royal Open as a last chance meet to make NCAA cuts (

#8 Wingate women's highlights
-Hallden touched first in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:33.43. She swam a 4:36.42 in the morning session.
-Moeller won the women's 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:24.40. She swan an almost-identical time of 2:24.80 in the morning preliminaries.
-Wingate junior
Leticia Odorici posted an NCAA D2 "B" cut (1:53.52) in the women's 200 Freestyle during the morning preliminaries. She swam a time of 1:53.74 in the Saturday night finals. Odorici is looking to make her second consecutive trip to NCAA nationals.
-Bulldog junior
Mathilde Cros (Pont de L'arn, France) posted an NCAA D2 "B" cut in the women's 200 Freestyle as well, recording her time in Saturday night's finals. Her time was 1:53.30. Cros swam a time of 1:53.62 during the morning program. The NCAA D2 "B" cut in the women's 200 Freestyle is 1:53.55.
-WU junior
Abby Kosic (West Chester, Pa.) recorded an NCAA D2 "B" cut in the 50 Freestyle (24.04) during the morning preliminaries. Kosic is a two-time defending national champion in the 800 Freestyle Relay who is hoping to make her third NCAA trip in three tries.

-Wingate freshman
Max Sundberg (Upplands Väsby, Sweden) finished third in the men's 200 Freestyle with an NCAA Division II "B" cut time of 1:39.26. He swam an NCAA D2 "B" cut in the morning preliminaries as well (1:39.67).
-Bulldog junior
Markus Furst (Jönköping, Sweden) saved his best for last, posting an NCAA D2 "B" cut in the 100 Backstroke (49.16) in the Saturday night finals. The NCAA Division II "B" cut in the 100 Backstroke is 49.29.

Ben Evans (Dover, England) recorded an NCAA D2 "B" cut of 9:26.82 in the 1000 Freestyle Saturday morning.
What's next
The NCAA Division II national committee will announce the field for the swimming and diving national championship meet on Wednesday, February 27. The NCAA meet is March 13-16 in Indianapolis, Ind. Wingate was the co-host for the 2018 NCAA Division II national championship meet at the
Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Bulldog men took seventh place and the women claimed eighth place.
