Averette and Robinson lead Bulldogs to 56-41 victory at Catawba

Salisbury, N.C.--- The Wingate University Bulldogs led wire-to-wire en route to a 56-41 victory over the Catawba College Indians in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Goodman Gymnasium Wednesday night. Wingate improves to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in league play. The Indians fall to 10-10 overall and 5-8 in the SAC.

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 37 percent from the field on the afternoon, Catawba shot 32 percent
- The Bulldogs shot 20 percent (two-for-10) from three-point range, the Indians shot 15 percent (two-for-13)
- Wingate held a 36-35 rebounding advantage and an 11-7 edge in second-chance points
- WU outscored Catawba 26-20 in the paint

FIRST QUARTER

- Catawba would go on an 11-1 run in the next six minutes of play, Elizabeth Webb capped it with a layup
- Wingate took a 47-35 lead into the fourth quarter

FOURTH QUARTER

- The Indians only scored six points in the final frame
- Jeter's free throw at the 4:49 mark made it a 52-35
- Catawba would score the next six points, getting two Talia Barnes baskets during the two-minute stretch
- Jo Snow would convert on a pair of free throws to cap off the scoring for Wingate
