Fifth-ranked Bulldogs suffer first SAC setback of the season at #33 Lenoir-Rhyne

Box Score Hickory, N.C.----The 33rd-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears won the doubles point Wednesday afternoon against fifth-ranked Wingate University, then went 3-3 in singles play to prevail 4-3 over the Bulldogs in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. LR improves to 16-3 overall and 7-2 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 14-4 overall and 8-1 in league play.

DOUBLES

- Josep Canyadell and Tamir Geva cruised to a 6-0 victory at three doubles
- LR won 6-4 and 7-5 at one and two doubles to pick up the doubles point
- The Bears took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Lenoir-Rhyne won at one and two singles in straight sets
- Canyadell prevailed 6-4, 6-2 at three singles
- Tolunay Sumer picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory at four singles
- Enrico Giacomini added a 7-5, 6-4 win at five singles
- Geva won the first set 6-3 at six singles, but fell 4-6, 3-6 in the final two sets

UP NEXT

- Wingate is back in action Friday, hosting Georgia College at noon
