Mars Hill, N.C.----The Mars Hill University Lions outscored visiting Wingate University 21-16 in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon, prevailing 58-55 in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action. Mars Hill improves to 3-21 overall and 1-17 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 14-11 overall and 8-9 in league play.

- Wingate closed the quarter on a 7-0 run, with Saylor's three-point play making it 13-10 in the final minute
SECOND QUARTER
- Douglas knocked down a three to put Wingate on top 17-15 midway through the second
- Alexis Pardue put MHU back on top with a jumper a minute later
- Troutman's jumper with 1:05 left gave the 'Dogs a 21-20 halftime advantage
THIRD QUARTER
- Five quick points from Clark gave Wingate a 26-20 lead two minutes into the second half
- Gabby Gianikos got MHU within one with a bucket at the 4:25 mark
- Saylor answered with a three-point play to make it 35-31
- Mallory Gardner's jumper with 1:23 left got MHU within two heading to the fourth quarter
FOURTH QUARTER
- Douglas knocked down a triple three minutes into the fourth to give WU a 46-41 lead
- Hannah McIntosh answered with a three at the 6:03 mark to get the Lions within one
- A pair of Tatum Boggs free throws put Mars Hill on top at the midway point
- A Pardue free throw with 1:24 left gave MHU a 54-49 advantage
- Two Douglas free throws and a Clark layup made it 55-53 with nine seconds left
- Boggs and Marshall answered with free throws in the final seconds to secure the win
