Bulldogs push winning streak to eight with 3-1 victory at Queens

Charlotte, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs stayed hot Thursday night, prevailing 3-1 at Queens University in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action. Wingate won by scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-20 and 25-23 to improve to 21-3 overall and 14-3 in the SAC. The Royals fall to 15-12 overall and 9-8 in league play. The 'Dogs have won eight straight and 15 of their last 16. Wingate is now in position to clinch at least a share of the regular season SAC title with a victory Saturday against Catawba.

FIRST SET

- Two Schaff kills gave Wingate an early 7-2 lead
- Kills from Blackley and Young pushed the lead to seven at 13-6
- Kills from Schaff and Kasprak put the 'Dogs on top 17-10
- A Grace Giunta kill pulled Queens within four, but a kill and a block from Lambillotte made it 21-15
- Kills from Lambillotte and Schaff made it 24-17; Kasprak's kill ended the frame
- WU hit .317 with 15 kills and just two errors in set one

SECOND SET

- Two kills and a block from Young gave the 'Dogs an early 4-1 lead
- A Schaff kill and Kasprak ace put Wingate on top 10-7
- Queens scored the next four, taking an 11-10 lead on two Kayla McDuffie blocks
- Young's kill put WU back on top, but a 3-0 Queens run gave the Royals a 14-12 lead
- Kills from Lambillotte and Schaff tied it at 16, but an Alleigh Johnson kill gave QU an 18-16 lead
- A 4-0 Queens run capped by a Giunta kill made it 22-17
- A Wingate error made it 24-18; another Bulldog error ended the frame

- Two early Lambillotte kills helped Wingate build a 6-2 lead in the third frame

- A kill and a block from Lambillotte, followed by a Sutphin kill gave the 'Dogs a 20-18 lead
- The Royals scored the next three, taking a 21-20 advantage on an Elmore block
- WU countered with a big 3-0 run, starting with a Schaff kill that tied it at 21
- Lambillotte followed with back-to-back aces, while another Schaff kill made it 24-22
