Jefferson City, Tenn.----The Carson-Newman University Eagles picked up a 77-68 victory over visiting Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in league play.

FIRST HALF
- Luke Brenegan's jumper gave the Eagles an early 7-2 lead
- WU scored the next six, getting two Taylor buckets to take an 8-7 advantage
- Three Elmore free throws put the 'Dogs on top by two less than five minutes in
- A Tyler Bowens bucket capped a 6-0 CN run that gave the Eagles a 16-11 lead
- Nixon's layup pulled the Bulldogs within one at the midway point
- Nixon buried a triple at the 8:24 mark to tie it at 20
- Taylor's bucket a minute later put the 'Dogs on top by two
- Brenegan's layup with 3:20 to go gave Carson-Newman a 27-24 advantage
- Two Brenegan free throws in the final seconds put CN on top 33-28 at halftime
SECOND HALF
- Caleb Bridgewater's three gave the Eagles a 39-28 lead less than two minutes into the second half
- WU scored the next eight, getting triples from Elmore and Cottingham to cut the lead to three
- Nixon's three at the 15:09 mark made it a one-point game
- Bowen's bucket pushed the CN lead back to six with 14:23 left
- Brenegan's three at the 11:15 mark gave the Eagles a 56-48 lead

Rashaard Pringle pulled WU within five with 6:48 to go
- A Tripp Davis bucket with under five minutes left pushed the CN advantage back to 10
- A Cottingham bucket and Elmore three made it 69-64 at the 1:40 mark
