Bulldogs pile up nine extra-base hits in 16-4 victory over UNC Pembroke

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits including nine extra-base hits Wednesday night, rolling to a 16-4 victory over visiting UNC Pembroke in NCAA Division II baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate improves to 10-5 overall, while UNCP falls to 8-5 on the season.

- McNeely started the scoring with an RBI double, then scored on a Chapman RBI double

- McNeely capped the scoring in the frame with his second double of the inning and third of the night

SEVENTH INNING

- Mellett led off the frame with a triple, then scored on McNeely's RBI single to make it 13-4
- An RBI single from Williams-Rhem plated McNeely to make it a 10-run game
- Bryant's two-run single gave Wingate a 16-4 advantage

WRAPUP

- Josh Karklin got the win, going one-third of an inning without allowing an earned run
- The WU bullpen allowed just one hit in 4 1/3 innings, striking out seven
- Jalen Scott took the loss, allowing five runs on three hits in one inning
