What They Are Saying
Wingate head coach
Nick Radkewich:
I have been overwhelmed by the quality of student-athletes we have been able to attract to Wingate University. Today, our team had a great spirit. They cheered for their teammates, they talked with the opposing teams and they even helped out running our first-ever meet. From start to finish, everyone was super positive.
Someone might not have had a great swim, but they came back and had a solid bike ride. Another person might not have had a great bike ride, but they rallied with a solid run. They did not give up.
We have been working hard…and we wanted to see how we stacked up against the best competition in the country in Queens. Our team fought bravely…and they did so with class.
Julia Kekkonen, our freshman from Finland, performed to our expectations. She had a good day. Dylan Kirchner didn't have her best bike ride, but she came back and had an outstanding run in the blazing heat. I thought she shined today.
We saw today that we need to work to get better on the bike prior to our next event. We had some solid swims and strong runs today. We are looking forward to the work ahead of us.
