Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored visiting Barton College 50-33 in the second half Monday afternoon, prevailing 85-71 in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 7-4 overall, while Barton falls to 6-5 on the season.

- A Miguel Shaw layup with a minute to go put Barton on top by five
- Cottingham's layup with 33 seconds left pulled the 'Dogs within three heading to halftime

SECOND HALF

- Wingate started the second half on a 19-4 run to take a 12-point lead
- A Nixon three, Cottingham bucket and Clark layup and free throws put WU on top by four
- A Sean Elmore three and Cottingham triple put the 'Dogs on top by 11 five minutes in
- Two Massey free throws made it 54-42 with 14:28 to go
- Nixon's three-point play at the 12:06 mark gave the 'Dogs a 13-point lead
- Two Shawn Nelson free throws pulled Barton within nine with seven minutes left
- Wingate scored the next 11 to push the lead to 20
- Wilson had nine points in the spurt that made it 78-58 with five minutes left
- Barton got no closer than 12 the rest of the way
