Bulldogs split with Adelphi in pitchers-duel doubleheader

Wingate, N.C.—-The Wingate University Bulldogs allowed just three runs Saturday afternoon, splitting their doubleheader with Adelphi University in NCAA Division II softball action. Wingate dropped the opener 3-2, but bounced back for a 1-0 victory in the second game, moving to 14-5 on the season, while the Panthers move to 1-3.

- Each team had one extra-base hit
- The Panthers committed one error, while the Bulldogs had two miscues in the field

- Katy Kahlich threw out the would-be scorer after a wild pitch, while the runner on first moved over to third
- Sacripante scored Cicchetti on a groundout for her third RBI of the day
- Stroud led off the sixth inning with a single and later stole second
- Brooks' one-out triple scored Stroud, cutting the Panther lead to 3-1
- McLaurin's single scored Brooks and brought the Bulldogs to within one run, but AU shut the door on the inning
