Raleigh, N.C.----Wingate University graduate student thrower
Elliot Zirwas finished eighth in the men's shot put on the first day of the Raleigh Relays Thursday. The annual event is hosted by North Carolina State University inside the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.
Zirwas was the top NCAA Division II finisher in the 45-man field with his mark of 17.53 meters. Last weekend, his Charlotte 49er Classic mark of 18.38 meters was the third-best shot put throw in NCAA Division II this season. Wingate junior
Danielle Crawford competed in the women's shot put, posting a mark of 13.00 meters.

- Freeland joined Rettschlag and Bayona in the Wingate career top five in the 1500 meters

Bastian Mrochen achieved a personal-best time of 14:13.31 in the 5000 meters

Saul Valdez ran a 15:20.37 in the men's 5000 meters

- Crawford has the best shot put mark in the South Atlantic Conference this season
- Her Charlotte 49er Classic mark of 13.59 meters is the second-best shot put performance in the Southeast Region this year

Lauryn Tumey Ursery both ran personal-best times in the 10,000 meters
- Scott's time of 35:45.70 is the second-best 10,000 meters in WU history
- Tumey Ursery is next on the Bulldog career list with her Thursday night time of 35:48.96
Wingate University
