Rapley and Rettschlag wrap up productive Raleigh Relays weekend for Bulldogs

Final Results

Raleigh, N.C.----Wingate University senior Meg Rapley set her second school record in as many days, establishing a new mark in the women's 800 meters on the third and final day of the Raleigh Relays Saturday. The annual event is hosted by North Carolina State University inside the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.

Rapley posted a time of 2:16.02, breaking the previous school record held by Madison Hiatt (2:16.70, South Atlantic Conference meet, 2016). Her Saturday time was six seconds better than her previous personal best. Rapley ran a 2:22.13 800 meters during the Lee (Tenn.) University Flames Invitational in 2021.

On Friday, she recorded a new school standard in the 1500 meters (4:34.53). Rapley earned All-SAC honors in two events (the 1500 meters and the 3000-meter steeplechase) during the 2021 outdoor campaign.

Sophomore Jakob Rettschlag recorded a time of 1:54.11 in the men's 800 meters Saturday, narrowly missing a new personal-best performance. Interestingly enough, Rettschlag's previous personal-best time was 1:54.02, established at last year's Raleigh Relays.
