Cleveland, Tenn.----Wingate University senior Timothy Young won the men's triple jump on a busy day at the Flames Invitational Friday. Young established an outdoor PR with his mark of 14.19 meters. Lee University is hosting the Flames Invitational at the LU Multi-Sport Complex.
 
On the team leader board, the Wingate women are sixth out of 24 teams. Host Lee is first on the women's charts. The Bulldog men are tied for 11th place with fellow South Atlantic Conference member Tusculum. Alabama-Huntsville leads the men's race out of 30 teams who have scored points. The Flames Invitational concludes Saturday.
 
Wingate men's highlights
 
- Jakob Rettschlag finished seventh in the 1500 meters with his season-best time of 3:51.44
- Wingate had four runners in the men's 1500 meters' top 25
- In his outdoor season debut, Daniel Schmidt was 12th with his time of 3:54.60
- Scott Nutter (16th, 3:57.23) and Jan Bayona (21st, 3:57.87) also cracked the top 25
- Tai Smith was ninth in the 5000 meters with his time of 14:22.75
- Felix Nadeborn finished 10th in the 10,000 meters with his time of 30:08.55
- Anthony Lepkowski ran a PR in the 200 meter dash with his time of 22.83
 
Wingate women's highlights
 
- Three Bulldogs finished in the top 15 in the women's 1500 meters
- Anna Torras led the way, taking fourth place with her time of 4:39.01
- Mollie Scott was eighth (4:41.23), while Lauryn Tumey Ursery was 13th (4:43.41)
- Carly Platt was fourth in the discus (34.22 meters) and sixth in the hammer (39.51 meters)
- Lexie May finished fifth in the discus (33.16 meters)
- Ennessey Sorrells earned a fifth-place showing in the triple jump (10.90 meters)
- Valerie Daehler was sixth in the high jump (1.60 meters)
