Sydney Kale and Savanna Brooks earn All-Region accolades

D2CCA All-Region | NFCA All-Region

Louisville, Ky.----Wingate University sophomore utility/pitcher Sydney Kale earned a pair of All-Region honors, with freshman Savanna Brooks also picking up region accolades. Kale is a D2CCA first team All-Region selection, while earning second team accolades from the NFCA. Brooks picks up second team honors from the D2CCA.

The duo helped lead the Bulldogs to a 37-19 record and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Wingate won a pair of NCAA Tourney contests to end the year with the third-most wins in program history. The 'Dogs also shattered the school record with 68 homers on the year.

Kale was a first team All-SAC Utility/Pitcher selection. She earns All-Region accolades for the first time in her career. Kale was one of the top hitters and pitchers in the conference in 2022. She hit .390 at the plate with five homers and 21 RBI while also scoring 21 runs. Kale picked up 10 wins and three saves in the circle, piling up 131 strikeouts against just 13 walks in 127 innings of work, compiling a 2.97 ERA. She ranks in the top five nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio. Kale ranks in the top 10 in the SAC in on-base percentage and batting average as a hitter and strikeouts, innings pitched, saves, ERA and shutouts as a pitcher.

Brooks picks up All-Region honors in her first season at Wingate, giving the 'Dogs a freshman on an All-Region team for the second straight year, with Heaven Maness earning the award in 2021. Brooks hit .294 in her first season at Wingate, piling up 11 homers, eight doubles and five triples while driving in 52 runs and scoring 44 times. She led the 'Dogs in RBI and slugging percentage, while tying for the team lead in homers. Brooks finished third in the SAC in triples and RBI and sixth in homers. Her 52 RBI are the fifth-most in a single season in program history.
