Bulldogs move to 9-3 in league play with 79-73 victory at Coker

Hartsville, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Coker University 37-27 in the second half Wednesday night, picking up another big road win with a 79-73 victory over the Cobras in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 14-7 overall and 9-3 in the SAC, while the Cobras fall to 11-11 overall and 5-7 in league play.

- A pair of Cottingham threes trimmed the lead to one at 11-10
- A Zavier Msmer triple with 12 minutes to go put the Cobras on top by seven
- A Tate Mulkey three-point play pushed the advantage to 10 with nine minutes left
- A Wilson three and Cottingham layup pulled Wingate within six at the 6:45 mark
- Another Mulkey triple gave Coker a 38-29 advantage
- WU scored the next six, getting four points from Massey to pull within three
- An Ahman Greenidge dunk and Wilson triple tied it at 40 with two minutes left
- A Jamie Muldowney triple in the final minute gave Coker a 46-42 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- Wingate scored nine of the first 11 points of the second half to take a 51-48 lead
- Vontrez Roberts scored the first six points of the spurt, with a Cottingham layup capping it
- Marvin Brumfield put Coker on top by three with a triple at the 12-minute mark
- An Elmore three and Cottingham layup gave the 'Dogs a 61-59 edge with 9:15 remaining
- Elmore buried a three with eight minutes left to extend the lead to three
- A Greenidge layup gave the Bulldogs a 65-61 lead with 6:32 to go
- Coker scored the next six, taking a 67-66 lead on two Jordan Jones free throws
- Nixon answered with a three to put WU on top 69-67 with 3:56 remaining
- Jones answered with a bucket to tie it at the 3:44 mark
- Wilson's layup a minute later put the 'Dogs on top by three
- A Bangura dunk cut the lead to one, but another Wilson layup made it 74-71 with 1:54 left
- A Brumfield layup with a minute left cut the lead back to one
- Wilson answered with a big triple with 39 seconds left to put the 'Dogs on top by four
- Cottingham added two free throws with 14 seconds left to make it 79-73
