New Orleans, La.----The Wingate University men's indoor track and field team is ranked No. 16 in the latest edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II rankings. Both Bulldog indoor teams are No. 1 in the Southeast Region. This week's ranking is the fifth listing for the 2023 indoor season.

- Wingate is listed in the top 20 of the men's ratings index for the third consecutive week
- The Bulldogs' last three weeks: No. 20, No. 14 and No. 16
- Two SAC schools reside in the men's top 25: No. 16 Wingate and No. 21 Lenoir-Rhyne
- The top five remains unchanged from week four to week five
- Pittsburg State is the No. 1 team, followed by Adams State in the No. 2 spot
- No. 3 through No. 5 includes West Texas A&M, Colorado Mines and Grand Valley State

National event squad listings
Â
The USTFCCCA released national event squad data earlier this week. On the men's side, Wingate has the No. 2 event squad in the 3000 meters. The Bulldog event squads are No. 3 in both the 5000 meters and the mile run, while charting at No. 6 in the triple jump. The Wingate women have the No. 6 event squad in the 5000 meters and the No. 8 group in the 3000 meters.

Next on the agenda for Wingate track and field

The Wingate University indoor track and field teams will compete in the South Atlantic Conference championship meet Saturday and Sunday in Winston-Salem. The meet will be held at the JDL Fast Track.
