What They Are Saying
Wingate head men's golf coach
JD Lamm
"Any time our team can finish in the tournament top five with a field this strong, we are very happy. This is the time of the spring when teams step up their game and we are doing this! We are moving in the right direction and peaking at the right time."
"Obviously, we have much to do to get ready for our home tournament (the Hargett Memorial). We can take away many positives from the Bearcat Golf Classic to help us get ready."
"Nick Fleming carried everyone on his back today. He gave himself many chances and his putts were falling today. We are happy that his work is starting to pay dividends for him."
Wingate junior student-athlete
Nick Fleming
"Overall, I'm happy with my performance. I made a run at it the final round and just came up short. I made some mistakes the first two rounds that I need to learn from. My game is trending and getting really close."
Wingate sophomore student-athlete
Colin Dutton
"Today was a great day for the team. Nick did an awesome job of making a lot of birdies and keeping the team high on the leaderboard. He's been working so hard and it's always good to see hard work pay off. I am beyond proud of him."
"As for my round today, I was happy to get back in the groove of things and walk away with an under par round. It was a big confidence booster going into the home tournament and the 'back nine' of the season, if you will. The team had a solid finish and we will continue to work on our games and get better week by week."
