Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University track and field teams had a busy Friday, competing in the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia and the LR Bears Invitational in Hickory.

Wingate men's highlights (Virginia Challenge unless otherwise noted)
- Soheil Boufrizi earned a seventh-place finish in the 3000 Steeplechase invite (8:59.90)
- Brent Surratt finished second in the 3000 Steeplechase with a 9:11.03 PR
- Will Aitken finished fifth in the 3000 Steeplechase (9:19.85)
- Antonin Saint Peyre was eighth in the 5000 meters (14:33.05)
- Darius 'Dash' Weathers posted a season-best mark in the triple jump (14.63 meters)
- Cas Kopmels won the LR Bears Invite 5000 meters (14:36.72)
- Bastian Mrochen was 0.02 seconds behind Kopmels in second (14:36.74)
- Scott Nutter finished fourth in the LR Bears Invite 5000 meters (14:36.81)
- Adrian Johnson was seventh in the LR Bears Invite 110 hurdles (15.40)

- Esma Pajt won the hammer throw with her 50.81 meters' effort
- Judith Vaquero finished second in the discus throw (43.23 meters)
- Kyra Stanley claimed a bronze medal in the 400 meter dash (1:00.38)
- Mollie Scott finished fifth in the UVA Challenge 5000 meters (17:07.89)
