Anderson, S.C.----The Wingate University women's track and field team occupies first place after day one of the 2023 South Atlantic Conference outdoor championships Wednesday. Wingate collected 69 points. Lenoir-Rhyne (44 points) and Catawba (32 points) are second and third, respectively. Anderson University is hosting this year's event at the AU Track Complex.

Meg Rapley took third place (11:30.69) as the 'Dogs had four of the top six finishers

Esma Pajt won the hammer throw with her triumphant toss of 51.99 meters
- Victoria McEachern claimed the hammer throw bronze medal (46.65 meters)

Laila Abouzaid finished second in the 10,000 meters with her time of 36:46.46

Mollie Scott was third in the same event with her time of 36:50.12

- Wingate will have five competitors in Thursday's 1500 meters' final

Sira Bo had the top WU time with her mark of 4:47.39

Zoe Brickley (4:48.70) joined Bo in the 1500 top seven

Naiobi White will race in the 100 (11.94) and 200 meter (24.55) finals
