Wingate posted 221 points, outscoring second-place Lenoir-Rhyne by an amazing 87.5 points. Bulldog head coach Matthew van Lierop was honored as the SAC Coach of the Year for men's outdoor track and field, while junior student-athlete Bastian Mrochen won the SAC Elite 23 Award.

What They Are Saying
Wingate senior mid-distance specialist Henning Kunze

"What a great year to be a Bulldog! Winning both XC titles, both indoor track trophies and now both outdoor track titles are big for this amazing program. These results show that Coach Matt van Lierop truly has built something special at Wingate."

"For me personally, making the 1500 meter finals was a great result after coming short the last two years. I am extremely grateful for being part of this team and for all the experiences in the last four years. Thank you, Wingate!"

Wingate graduate student thrower Tucker Mullis

"This was a great week for the Wingate track and field teams. A truly amazing accomplishment to win conference once again after a successful indoor season. I am beyond proud of everyone and their performances. I am honored to be on such an amazing team."

"Thursday was a bittersweet ending to a long career of athletics at Wingate. I was blessed to come away with a first-place finish in shot put and post competitive throws in both discus and hammer. Taking my last throw in shot put knowing I had secured first place was an amazing moment to reminisce on the amazing journey I have had at Wingate."

"All thanks to my amazing coach and best friend Billy Edwards, my amazing teammates and especially Tom Kalliske, who has pushed me constantly all season and has been an amazing asset to the WU track and field team. As always and for one last time as a Bulldog…glory be to God…Go Dawgs!"
