What They Are Saying
Wingate head coach
Nick Radkewich
On today's race: "Our front four…Jule, junior
Dylan Kirchner and sophomores
Tamar Veltman and
Katja Krenn…went out on the bike together and had a very strong ride. I was glad to see Jule and the team repeat last year's victorious Bulldog SuperSprint Kickoff performances."
"Freshman
Sophie Burger had a strong debut. We'll look for her to be stronger in Pennsylvania, as we add the swim segment to the bike and the run."
Thanks: "We appreciate Newberry, Emmanuel and Navy coming down and supporting us today. They provided great competition…and they are outstanding competitors."
Wingate sophomore
Jule Resselberger
"I'm really happy with the result of the team and with my race, especially because the team struggled a bit during the week with some illnesses, so unfortunately not everyone made it to the start line. After the first run, I was pretty surprised to find myself in a small lead group with Dylan Kirchner, Katja Krenn and Tamar Veltman, who ended up being our top four."
"We worked very well together, so we could create a big gap. I felt good on the run and stayed with Dylan all the time until right before we finished with a sprint, where I could gain the lead. Overall, it was great to see both the women's and the men's team perform in the first race of the season."
Wingate junior
Dylan Kirchner
"I thought our season opener went very well today. We have had a good start to the season training-wise to prepare us for our later races. Jule, Tamar, Katja and I had a good break-away group on the bike today and we all worked together to keep our lead. It's very exciting to have a group of girls to work with for future races."
"The second run was good too, having the other girls there to push me. Overall, the race was definitely a good start to the season for me individually, as well as the team as a whole. I'm really excited to see what we can do later on in the season!"
