Bulldogs fall at LMU in shootout

Harrogate, Tenn.----The Wingate University Bulldogs piled up 39 shots with 27 shots on goal Saturday afternoon, but could not find the back of the net, falling 1-0 at Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference field hockey action. The Railsplitters improve to 3-9 overall and 2-9 in the SAC, while Wingate falls to 11-5 overall and 9-4 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Wingate out-shot LMU 39-5
- The Bulldogs held a 27-4 edge in shots on goal
- The 'Dogs took 17 of the 21 corners on the day

KEY BULLDOGS

- Rylie Cordrey had 10 shots, with nine shots on goal
- Lauren Montgomery added eight shots, including five shots on goal
- Coda Fisher and Novy Schrijvers added five shots apiece, combining for eight shots on goal
- Aydra Szymborski notched three saves on the day

FIRST HALF

- Wingate took 11 of the 14 shots in the opening 30 minutes
- The 'Dogs had four shots on goal, while LMU had three shots on frame

SECOND HALF

- The Bulldogs took all 16 shots in the second half
- WU had six shots on goal in the third quarter and seven in the final frame

OVERTIME

- The 'Dogs took 12 of the 14 shots in the two OT periods
- Wingate had all five shots on frame in the first overtime
- The Bulldogs had five of the six shots on goal in the second OT

SHOOTOUT

- Szymborski saved the opening shootout attempt from LMU
- Fisher converted her attempt to put the 'Dogs on top
- Lincoln Memorial made their next three attempts
- Schrijvers converted her attempt to keep the Bulldogs alive
- Wingate had a chance to extend the shootout, but Riley Robinson's attempt failed
