‘Dogs move to 11-2 in league play with 90-78 victory at Emory & Henry

Emory, Va.----Josh Massey and Corbin Pack combined for 45 points Saturday afternoon, leading the Wingate University Bulldogs to a 90-78 victory at Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the SAC, while the Wasps fall to 5-16 overall and 2-11 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 45 percent from the field, going 13-for-23 from three-point range (57 percent)
- E&H shot 40 percent from the field, connecting on nine-of-33 from deep (27 percent)

FIRST HALF

- Massey hit two triples and a jumper to give the 'Dogs an early 8-0 lead
- Nixon's triple four minutes in made it 13-4
- Jacob Dar cut it to seven with a jumper, but buckets from Roberts and Massey made it 17-6
- E&H scored the next 11, tying it at 17 on a Cade Looney layup at the 9:42 mark
- Pack answered with a triple to put the 'Dogs back on top
- Dar's three-point play gave the Wasps a 24-22 lead with 7:45 to go
- Back-to-back Pack triples gave Wingate a 28-24 advantage a minute later
- A Massey three-point play and Taylor jumper stretched the lead to eight
- Threes from Taylor and Nixon put the 'Dogs on top 40-28 at the 2:46 mark
- Another Nixon triple a minute later gave Wingate a 15-point lead
- A Marshall Klug three in the final minute made it 45-33

SECOND HALF

- Bell's jumper in the opening minute stretched the lead back to 14
- Klug knocked down a triple with 15 minutes to go to cut the lead to four at 53-49
- Jordan Miller's jumper at the 12:45 mark made it 60-51
- Dar answered with a three to cut the lead back to six
- A Taylor layup and Nixon triple put the 'Dogs on top 65-54 with 11:32 to go
- Pack's dunk at the midway point extended the lead back to 12
- Gabe Brown's three pulled the Wasps back within eight
- Pack buried two more triples to make it 79-66 at the 4:34 mark
- Klug's triple cut the lead back to eight a minute later
- Taylor answered with a three-point play, while two Nixon free throws made it 84-73
- Bell's three-point play with 1:31 remaining put the Bulldogs on top by 14
- Emory & Henry got no closer than 12 the rest of the way
