Danny Riley and Dylan Rupprecht earn SAC Player of the Week accolades

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University senior attack Danny Riley has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Sophomore face-off specialist Dylan Rupprecht is the SAC Specialist of the Week. Riley earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time this season and second time in his career, while Rupprecht earns the honor for the first time in his career.

The duo led #8 Wingate to a pair of dominant SAC victories last week, as the Bulldogs moved to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the SAC. Wingate prevailed 19-6 against Catawba on Wednesday, then rolled to a 23-3 victory over Lincoln Memorial Saturday.

Riley piled up 12 points in the two victories, notching six goals and six assists while adding three ground balls and a caused turnover. He started his week with two goals and an assist against Catawba, collecting a pair of ground balls. Riley piled up four goals and five assists in the LMU win on Saturday, while also notching a ground ball and a caused turnover.

Rupprecht was nearly flawless for the week, winning 24-of-27 face-offs in the two games, adding 14 ground balls and a goal. He started his week by winning 11-of-12 face-offs against Catawba, piling up nine ground balls. He won 13-of-15 face-offs Saturday against LMU, collecting five more ground balls while scoring his first goal of the season and second of his career.

Riley has piled up 26 goals and 26 assists this season, ranking third in the SAC in assists, fourth in points and ninth in goals. Rupprecht has won 57 percent of face-offs this year, going 90-for-159 while collecting 45 ground balls.

Wingate is back in action Saturday, traveling to Anderson for a 12 p.m. start. The Bulldogs return home next Saturday, April 13, hosting #1 Limestone at noon.
